Fairfax County Government Center

Fairfax County Government Center received a Gold Workplace Award from the DCBFC and MBC. Ina Fernandez, the Director of Office for Women and Domestic & Sexual Violence Services, and Cathy Lewis of the Division of Planning and Zoning coordinate the program. So far, there are rooms in all of the Human Service County Building but they are working on securing rooms in other locations. Crystal Lamb, an engineering tech has an 8 month-old son. She uses part of her lunch break to pump in one of the lactation rooms. Before the rooms were opened she had to pump in the bathroom! Ms. Lamb says that people like Ms. Fernandez and Ms. Lewis have been very supportive, and that it feels good knowing she is doing something for her baby while at work. People on site make sure that the rooms are clean and that everything is running smoothly.
