Donate
Thank you for your interest in donating to the DC Breastfeeding Coalition. Donating to the Coalition helps to increase the breastfeeding rates of all infants living in the District of Columbia. Through its breastfeeding research, advocacy and educational activities, the Coalition seeks to reduce health disparities -- particularly among the most vulnerable infants and children living in our communities.
How will my donation be used?
|
|
Goal: To promote, protect and support culturally-sensitive programs and activities that build awareness and understanding of the preventive health benefits of breastfeeding.
Program Recipient(s): Donations will be used for breastfeeding research, advocacy, awards programs, educational activities and coalition-sponsored events. |
Goal: To achieve health equity in D.C. through breastfeeding
Program Recipient(s): The East of the River Lactation Support Center (ERLSC). The ERLSC began as a collaborative program between Children's National Hospital, the DC Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women Infants and Children (WIC) Program, and the DC Breastfeeding Coalition. Understanding how important breastfeeding is for families, we aim to provide mothers with the caring support, knowledge, and encouragement they need. The DC Breastfeeding Coalition, through the Lactation Certification Preparation Course, is committed to increasing the number of people of color and others from underrepresented groups in the field of lactation. Completion of the course satisfies 45 of the 90 hours of didactic education needed to apply for the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE) exam. The Carol A. Ryan Equity in Lactation Scholarship is a competitive award which provides financial support to individuals eligible to sit for the IBLCE exam. |
