Not only will this data give a thorough reference of who our users are, but the kind of services they specifically are interested in through our program, as well as possibilities for future service on-campus. http://www.wellness.umaryland.edu/services/lactation_registration.html 01/28 - have offered 1st hour class for pregnant women/mothers: COMPLETE We offered this class on February 9, 2011 for six mothers. The syllabus for this class is attached. We can also fax evaluations from the class for further documentation. 02/10 - performed outreach with other lactation centers or mother-friendly locations on campus: COMPLETE With the help of Lily Fountain and one of our Wellness Fellows, we comprised a list of best practicing higher education institutions that have Lactation Centers. While continuous and more extensive outreach is expected to be done in the coming months, we do have a basic understanding of current practices and information available in similar settings. We also used these resources to expand our literature available through the Wellness Hub virtually, and constructed the registration system based upon other models we found through this research. http://www.wellness.umaryland.edu/services/lactationcenter_resources.html 02/28 - have offered 2nd hour class for pregnant women/mothers: COMPLETE We offered this second class on February 28, 2011 for three mothers and four community advocates. The class followed the same syllabus as the first class, though located in the facilities of the School of Dentistry. Attached is a photograph from the grand opening ceremony. The people in the photo represent attendees of the class, which followed the opening ceremony. We can also fax evaluations from the class for further documentation. Here is the press release of the award ceremony, class, and grand opening coverage. 02/28 - begun research survey on campus needs: CURRENT This survey will be implemented in the Fall to gather quantitative information on the wellness of our entire student population. Questions for the survey are being considered in regards to the Lactation Center and breastfeeding. In the meantime, the registration page on the website gathers basic information on needs for mothers currently looking to breastfeed.
